The Cathedral Beneath the Roots - 9X12

Not every cathedral was built by the faithful.

Some were grown.

Over centuries, an ancient tree consumed an abandoned sanctuary, its roots twisting through stained glass, wrapping around stone arches, and swallowing every grave that surrounded it. The dead were never allowed to leave. Their skulls became part of the roots, their spirits feeding the monstrous tree until it transformed into something far older, and far more sinister than the church it buried.

At its peak, the tree reveals its true face: a silent, screaming skull emerging from the bark, forever watching over the cursed ground below. Every root tells a story. Every skull marks another soul claimed. The cathedral still stands beneath the tangled mass, not as a place of worship, but as a monument to those who entered seeking salvation and found only eternal imprisonment.

The path leading to the doorway remains open, but no one remembers who built it—or why it has never disappeared.

Some believe the cathedral was cursed.

Others believe the tree is what people came to worship all along.

Either way...

Once you step beneath the roots, they never let you leave.
